i moved December1st and 2 days later Nature said oh no you dont and poured cats and dogs... actually if it had poured cats and dogs i would have been more than happy.... the skies opened up and day and night the water that poured stayed back not wanting to leave me and my cartons alone seeped into the house that i had not even broken bread in... 3 boxes of my precious books... Agnis keepsakes, his big books that he gave me while telling me atleast i can use it as a door stopper since i am not going to read an instruction manual for hindu culture and customs anyway.... all gone.
while it is not me my lil one and 2 gurls and a rowdy boy a family of 5, holed up in the bedroom together so close to each other that one cant move a nose without hitting on the others hand with no power, no water, no food for 7 days. my phone died eventually on day 3. my neighbours had no idea someone had moved in and were surprised when i called out asking for water level updates and looked at me so pitifully and threw across a pack with six slices of bread into my window and asked me to ration it which i did.
came out the other side in one piece. took me a month to dry out my books. lost a lot of my certificates and documents. but here i am. here we are. all five of us. happy with our own little place that we can put our feet up and relax at.
what a ride!! The flood that came and all that comes with it.. or rather all that went with it.
